Putnam County

Year Founded: 1888

The town was settled in 1872. The first Town Hall building was constructed in 1892 and still stands at the corners of Commonwealth and Atlantic Avenues. The town was first known as “Blue Pond” and was so named because of the beautiful lake nearby. That lake is now known as Lake Lagonda.
