History

New York and Pennsylvania shared in the naming of this city, which was originally called Brooklyn. In 1922, J.J. Lawrence of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, settled here and was responsible for the adoption of the present name in honor of his home state, which is called the “Keystone State.”
