Lake Hamilton

Polk County

Year Founded: 1925

The origin of the name of the lake on which the town is situated and from which it takes its own name is obscure. It seems formerly to have been spelled “Jambleton,” ruling out the obvious derivative from Alexander Hamilton. The town was established in 1913. The lake itself has a shoreline of 35 miles and there are nine smaller lakes within the town limits.
