A campaign commemorating Florida's diverse cities.
Brought to you by the Florida League of Cities.
The City of Laurel Hill was first incorporated in 1905 and was, at that time, a part of Walton County. It became part of Okaloosa County when the county was created in 1915. A lack of interest in politics and the closing of many businesses caused the town to dissolve. It was resurrected as a city June 2, 1953. The name Laurel Hill came from a large laurel tree that was used as a hitching post in the center of town in its early days.
