Developers out of Miami who developed Palm Springs of Dade County using the name of Palm Springs, California, derived the Village of Palm Springs. The village was chartered in 1957. It covers 1.6 square miles, 700 acres of which was once a dairy farm. The diary farm was associated with Boutwell Dairy that was sold and became part of T.G. Lee Dairies. The Christ Community Church located on Henthorne Drive was originally the barn of the diary farm.
