A campaign commemorating Florida's diverse cities.
Brought to you by the Florida League of Cities.
It was a man named Walter Seth Kipnis who suggested at an incorporation committee meeting that the development take the name Pembroke Pines. “Pembroke” came from the main access road, Pembroke Road, and possibly from an early lumberjack and property owner, Lord Pembroke. “Pines” came from the large number of pine trees in the area. Pembroke Pines is recognized as one of the most rapidly growing cities in Florida. Well-laid planning and actions to insure appropriate infrastructure have made that growth relatively trouble-free.
