A campaign commemorating Florida's diverse cities.

The name of this city was taken from that of the city in Indiana, which in turn had come from that of the famous Chilean port. Valparaiso means “Vale of Paradise.” It was chosen for this community by John Perrine, who came to the area from Valparaiso, Indiana, about 1918. A planned community, Valparaiso was settled between Boggy and Tom’s Bayous at the western end of Choctawatchee Bay.
