A campaign commemorating Florida's diverse cities.
Brought to you by the Florida League of Cities.
This site was originally chosen for the housing of the many workers who came here during the construction of the Palm Beach resort area across Lake Worth. Upon incorporation, J.R. Earman was elected as mayor, G.W. Potter was elected president of council and six men were elected as aldermen. At the election held in August 1919, voters approved the council-manager form of government and the election of the mayor from and by the Commission. This has since been modified to the present council-strong mayor form of government. West Palm Beach is the county seat.
